The sea. A clear sky. Ice.
The hour just before darkness.
Something distant. Something infinite.
Blue is a strange color. It surrounds us, yet very little in the natural world is actually blue. The sky has no blue surface. Neither does the sea. What we perceive as blue is often light, distance, depth — something that exists because of the way we see.
Perhaps that is why blue has always carried a certain ambiguity. It can feel tranquil or melancholic, familiar or unreachable. It belongs equally to water and shadow, to clarity and uncertainty.
Close your eyes. Think of blue.
